The Olympic Lifts have become synonymous with high level performance and conditioning. As a result it would be very difficult to find a top level sports person regardless of their field of endeavour who has not trained in the snatch, clean or jerk. The Olympic lifts are excellent for developing speed, acceleration, coordination and power, components of fitness which are highly sought after. However it is not just elite level athletes who can benefit from learning and training in the Olympic Lifts, everybody can benefit from learning the lifts and their progressions.
The Optimal Life Fitness Introduction to Olympic Weightlifting is a 2 day instructional course aimed at teaching personal trainers, fitness instructors (REPS Level 3) and strength and conditioning coaches the theory and practical application behind performing and teaching the Olympic Lifts. Aims and Learning Outcomes
The Olympic Weight Lifting for Fitness Professionals Course Aims:
- Trainers will learn the 2 Olympic Lifts in full, the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk
- Trainers will understand the specialist techniques involved in performing Olympic Lifts effectively and safely.
- Trainers will understand how to teach clients to perform the lifts.
- Trainers will learn all the assistant exercises that improve the Olympic lifts
- Trainers will learn how to break down the 2 major lifts and perform and teach every individual component.
- Trainers will learn about the importance of the performing the individual components to improve overall performance.
- Trainers will know how to implement Olympic Lifts into training sessions and design new programs for Olympic lifting.
- Trainers will gain ideas for Olympic lifting programs and how to apply them to all clientele.
- Trainers will be assessed practically by the instructor on their competence with the 2 Olympic lifts.
