The Performance Boxing course has been designed to give the fitness instructor or personal trainer the skills and knowledge to:

  • Safely design and implement boxing into group fitness or personal training
  • Display and teach the correct technique and movement for punching and holding focus pads and coaching mitts
  • Communicate positively with class participants and client to create positive relationships that will ensure people will be returning to your class or Personal training session
  • Successfully structure group training and personal training sessions and have the skills to vary sessions so participants never get bored of your routines

Johnny Lewis and Corey Bocking have designed the course.
Johnny Lewis is Australia’s leading boxing trainer who has trained five World Champions – including Jeff Fenech and Kostya Tszyu - and who has also been involved in training the Australian Rugby League Team and many NRL and AFL teams.
Johnny’s practical techniques for training Australia’s greatest boxers have formed the Performance Boxing course.
Corey Bocking is a fitness professional, who has trained many professional athletes’ including some of Australia’s leading boxers. Corey has worked for two of Australia’s leading Universities and has lectured for the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association presenting their level 1 course.

B.J. Rule
BJ Rule, education director for the Optimal Life Fitness Group, has always had an interest in boxing and the components of fitness that boxing develops. This interest and passion was first developed during off season rugby league training as a teenager. It was then progressed through years of training and utilised as a means of cross training. In 2005 BJ received his ABA boxing licence and had his first fight. Since then he has continued to train utilising pad and bag work in both his own training and with his personal training clients. 

As the education director of the Optimal Life Fitness Group, BJ wanted to find a boxing course that combined the thoroughness of proper boxing technique (from the pro's) with the delivery and execution offered by trainers and educators. That's when he found this course. Johnny Lewis is arguably Australia's and one of the world’s greatest ever boxing trainers and Corey Bocking is one of Australia's leading trainer and educators, and their course ticks all the right boxes! BJ has spent time with both Corey and Johnny learning the intricacies of delivering this course. 


A.J. Philips
Head trainer of the Optimal Life Fitness Group, Andy has developed his boxing skills throughout his personal training career. He is now in training with the ABA to achieve one of his ultimate goals of getting in the ring for real! He’s currently training with some of the UK’s top ABA coaches to hone his fighting skills. His understanding behind boxing in the ring and in the personal training field is second to none. He successfully runs group boxing sessions and PT sessions on a weekly basis for the Group.

Prerequisites for the course are, that all participants are to be registered fitness professionals with REPs at least a level 2

Terms and Conditions for the Performance Boxing Course
Within this document ‘we, our, company, company’s’ refers to Optimal Life Fitness Ltd and ‘you’ refers to the client. PB refers to the Performance Boxing Course.

  1. Payment for the PB must be made in full prior to the course start.
  2. To reserve a place on the PB course payment must be made in full
  3. Optimal Life Fitness ltd does not accept deposits for the PB course, payment must be made in full.
  4. Optimal Life Fitness Ltd does not offer a refund once payment for a PB course has been made.
  5. Optimal Life Fitness Ltd reserves the right to move a course to a different date at the company’s discretion and decision. You will not be refunded for this change but will be offered a course at a later date.
  6. If you cannot attend the course you have booked you must inform Optimal Life Fitness Ltd up to 14 days before the course start date. You will then be offered another course at a later date. We will not refund any monies paid. You will only have this option once, if you cancel the next course we are not expected to offer you another place on a future course.
  7. If you cancel your place on the PB within 14 days of the course start date, we will not refund any monies paid.
  8. If you cancel your place on the PB within 14 days of the course start date we are not expected to offer you a place on a future course.
